Privacy Policy

Effective August 14, 2026

Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how Dolmapp (“Dolmapp,” “we,” “us”) handles information across both products we operate: the Dolmapp mobile app (iOS and Android, for riders and for drivers who publish live location in Driver Mode) and the Dolmapp website at dolm.app (marketing pages and the internal admin panel used by our team). Using either product means you agree to the practices described here.

Information We Collect

Account information. If you create an account, we (via our backend provider, Supabase) store your email address and authentication credentials. Some features work without an account through a local, on-device mock mode.

Location data. As a rider, the app uses your device location — including background location during an active trip — to power trip planning and location alerts; if you opt in to Nearby offers, we also use your location while the app is open. See “Location Data” below for details. If you enable Driver Mode, the app continuously publishes your live GPS position so riders can see your vehicle on the map — this only happens while you have actively started a shift in Driver Mode.

App content you submit. Complaints, lost-and-found reports, saved places, and favorites you create in the app, along with any details or attachments you include in them.

Locally cached data. Route and stop datasets are downloaded and cached on your device (via AsyncStorage) so the app works offline — this data describes the transit network, not you.

Website usage. The dolm.app marketing site does not require an account. Our internal admin panel, used only by Dolmapp staff, requires a Supabase-authenticated login to manage routes, fares, and complaints.

Location Data

What we collect. The app can collect precise (GPS) and approximate location from your device.

While the app is open. As a rider, the app uses your location while it’s open to find nearby dolmuş/minibüs lines and plan trips.

During an active trip (background). When you tap “Start trip,” the app continues reading your location in the background — including while the app is minimized or your screen is locked — for one purpose: to notify you when you’re approaching your alight (get-off) stop. A persistent notification stays visible the entire time this is active, and background tracking stops automatically as soon as the trip ends or is cancelled. This location data is not sent to our servers — the distance-to-your-stop calculation happens entirely on your device, and only the resulting notification text (not your coordinates) is sent to trigger the alert.

Nearby offers (optional). A separate “Nearby offers” toggle in Profile lets you opt in to being notified when you pass near a partner business with an offer. It is off by default and works independently of any active trip, but only while the app is open — it does not run in the background. You can turn it off in Profile at any time.

Your control. You can revoke location access at any time in your device Settings. Declining foreground location does not block the app — it only disables location-dependent features such as trip planning, Driver Mode, and the alerts described above.

How We Use Information

We use the information above to plan and display trips, show live vehicle locations, respond to complaints and lost-and-found reports, maintain your account, secure the app, and operate the minibus/dolmuş route and fare datasets that power the product.

Third-Party Services

We rely on the following processors to run Dolmapp. Each only receives the data it needs to do its job:

  • Supabase — authentication, database, and live vehicle-location realtime updates.
  • Google Places / Google Maps — place search, autocomplete, and map rendering.
  • Sentry — crash and error reporting, to help us fix bugs.

Data Retention & Deletion

We keep account and app-content data for as long as your account is active. You can permanently delete your account and associated data at any time from the app (Profile → Delete Account). Cached route/stop datasets are just a local copy of public transit data and can be cleared by uninstalling the app.

Your Rights

You can access, correct, or delete your account data at any time through the app, and you can disable location access for the app in your device settings (note this will limit trip-planning and Driver Mode features). To make a broader data request, contact us at hi@dolm.app.

Children's Privacy

Dolmapp is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the app or website changes. We’ll update the effective date above when we do; continued use of Dolmapp after a change means you accept the update.
